Today's Scripture
“Study this Book of Instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do. This is my command—be strong and courageous! Do not be afraid or discouraged. For the LORD your God is with you wherever you go.” Joshua 1:8-9 NLT

Thoughts for Today
You’ve chosen to face the truth. You’ve admitted you are doing wrong. You’ve looked at your reflection in God’s Word and want to make the changes you see are needed.

You can change! You can do it. But . . . don’t try to do it alone.
Trust in the LORD with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Don’t be impressed with your own wisdom. Instead, fear the LORD and turn away from evil.   Proverbs 3:5-7 NLT

Consider this . . .
Admit you can’t win this victory on your own. Humble yourself before God and ask for help.
So humble yourselves before God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come close to God, and God will come close to you.   James 4:7-8 NLT

Ask the Holy Spirit to guide you.
So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.   Galatians 5:16 NLT

Keep using God’s Word as a mirror—and act on what you see.
Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path.   Psalm 119:105 NLT

Put your hope in God and his Word. You can count on Him!
I am counting on the LORD; yes, I am counting on Him. I have put my hope in His word.
Psalm 130:5 NLT

Prayer
Father, I’m ready to make these changes but I know I cannot do it alone. Give me

understanding. Show me what you want me to do step-by-step. May your Holy Spirit guide me and your Word light my path. I know I can count on you—and you alone. In Jesus’ name . . .

These thoughts were drawn from …Completely Free! A Group Study of Romans 1-8 by Dan Strickland. Everyone struggles from time-to-time, but we can have confidence that in Christ we are completely free from sin's slavery, from condemnation, and from fear of failure. This group study of Romans 1-8 and 12 helps Christians break out of the dull routine of a stagnant spiritual life. Applying the truths found in Romans can transform any believer into a person eager to follow God's will. This study can also serve as a powerful evangelistic tool by explaining the message of salvation as presented in Romans. Suggested uses include home Bible studies, cell groups, Sunday school classes, support groups and personal enrichment.
