Prioritizing Your Generosity
By Rick Boxx
December 14, 2010

The Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University researched charitable donor's motivations for giving. The top three results included 1) Basic needs for the poor 2) Make world better and 3) Make community better.

Prioritizing our giving, especially at year end, can be challenging. What one person thinks is making our world better, another might see as a waste.

The Apostle Paul wrote in 1 Corinthians 13:3, "If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing."

As you prioritize your giving this year consider whether or not your giving flows out of love. Loving God and loving others are the two greatest commandments, and a great guide for life and your giving.
