Last spring, just before I returned for our second Truth Encounter Spiritual Leadership Conference, I received this email from my Kenyan co-workers, Sammy and Zach.
"We want to mobilize more pastors and bishops for these conferences and reach as many folks as we can to expose them to this great teaching from someone who understands the Word of God. Radio and TV ads would be a powerful tool to get the word out about the meetings. We are expecting to have over three hundred at the meetings in Kakamega and as many in the meetings at Webuye. We hope to start making the posters, banners, invitation letters, and handbills to be distributed two weeks before the conferences. Our vision would be to see eight or nine hundred attend the meetings."
During His earthly ministry, when Jesus sent out another wave of His disciples into the cities and villages He was about to visit, here’s how He prepared them.
“Now after these things, the Lord appointed 72 others (remember the Twelve going out earlier? Lk. 9) and sent them out two by two ahead of Him to every town and place He was about to go. He told them, ‘The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into His harvest field. Go! I’m sending you out like lambs among wolves.’” - Luke 10:1-3
Last May in Kenya I did see some hippos, rhinos, and baboons, but no wolves. I also saw a great need to help train more workers for the harvest, especially pastors in understanding, living, and communicating the Scriptural Story.
Please begin praying for the Lord to bring laborers to the Truth Encounter Kenya Spiritual Leadership Conference to become better equipped to go out into His harvest field.
LORD, thank you that we can be used to help Kenyans better understand Your Story and not only train pastors but also connect with unbelievers and share the Gospel in obedience to Acts 1:8. Prove again that the harvest is plentiful.
