God’s Love

February 11, 2014

In Romans 5:8 – we read, But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”

Although God’s holiness cuts man from the presence of God, and although His justice demands the death penalty, yet God’s love has provided a way for salvation to take sin away. That “way” is a Person, God Himself! Remember, the passage we just read, “Christ died for our sins.”

My friend, it is true, God hates sin, but He loves the souls of sinners. The love of God is poured out upon a guilty world by the blood of Jesus Christ that was shed on Calvary for our sin. His atonement is sufficient for the whole world, but efficient only to those who receive Him as their personal Savior.

Jesus said in Luke 19:10“for the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.”

Note this, however:  the salvation provided and offered by Christ’s death is only to those who receive Him. Every promise of salvation is hinged on the words, “he that believes” meaning, he that receives.

You see, my friend, God has done His part, loving us and providing a Savior for us, He cannot take His next part, which is to keep us from eternal separation from Him and give us eternal life, until we do our part. Our only part is to receive Him.

Just as in a game of checkers, God will not take a second turn until we take our turn. My friend, God has placed stop signs on the road to hell. You have just heard one of them. I love you and pray God saves you this very day.
