Remember that song, Trust and Obey? Today, we often leave off the "obey." We think we can simply have faith, but real faith powerfully transforms our lives. True faith generates obedience and this is a major thrust in the Book of Deuteronomy. When so-called Christians abort babies, have affairs, cheat on their income tax, and arrogantly lie and abuse others, and say they are follower of Jesus, God is not going to buy it. Deuteronomy predicts what happens to a people who say one thing with their mouth, but live a different way in their lives. In the book of John, love, faith and obedience are all inter-related. Jesus said, “If you love me, you will keep my commandments.” The two are always related.
