Have you ever heard someone say, “Things are different. The temptations today are much more intense. They're has never been a time as bad as this?" How about the temptation of living in a city where a thousand prostitutes come down off their sacred acropolis and entice the men nightly to enjoy their fifty shades of grey? How about a church that's celebrating their freedom as a young man sleeps with his step mother, or a church that teaches that you can do whatever you want with your body because we're already living in the pleasures of God's Kingdom?
These are the conditions that believers in Corinth faced and yet the Apostle Paul still told them, "No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to all humans. God is faithful and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation will provide the way to escape, that you may be able to endure it." (1 Corinthians 10:13). No! There’s no excuse. We don’t have to sin. The pressure isn’t too great. God is still opening the sea so that we can escape the tempter.
