How do we respond when someone betrays us, knifes us in the back with their words? Well, my first reaction is to stab right back, but check out how Jesus responded to Judas' betrayal in the Gethsemane. Even at this point Jesus says, “Friend.” He's still giving Judas an opportunity to turn away from his treachery. Now Jesus is sovereign. He knows what Judas is going to do, but we can't use the fact that God writes the Story to deny our responsibility when we do evil. Judas is responsible for the decision he made from turning away from being a trusted follower of Jesus to someone controlled by thirty pieces of silver.
