It's an incredible reality. We are the arms, legs, eyes, and ears of Jesus in the world today. He's at the right hand of God, but the moment we believe in Jesus He gives us the gift of His Spirit and our body becomes His Temple. This is the point the Apostle Paul was trying to make with the Corinthian believers in 1 Corinthians 6;12-20. It's the foundation of why he warns them against engaging in immoral sexual acts. If they unite themselves with a prostitute, they have dragged the presence of Jesus residing in their body into this breaking of the 7th commandment. On a positive note it also means that when our bodies suffer or we face persecution, Jesus goes through every second with us.
