You’ve probably heard that common adage, “I’m a lover, not a fighter,” and perhaps you thought it rather pithy. Most people do. But I’ll bet that if the Apostle Paul had heard that during his day, he would have challenged the statement immediately! He tells us clearly in Romans 7:14-17 that every Christian is engaged in a war against sin; our love for God is directly proven by how well we do on that battlefield.

But you are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a people for God’s own possession.
