The Father’s House, pt.2
Saturday, June 18, 2011

The word grace literally means “undeserved favor.” So when Scripture talks about God’s grace toward us as believers, it’s referring to something undeserved that God gives us. And that’s everything, isn’t it?! By grace we are saved at the cross; by grace we are able to live everyday in newness of life; by grace we will one day have a home with Christ in His kingdom. That’s why Pastor Stephen Davey will remind us in today’s message that the most amazing thing about heaven isn’t the golden streets and pearly gates—it’s the fact that our names are written on the doorstep.

Featured Offer from Wisdom for the Heart Weekend

Speech Therapy for Saints
Did you know the average person speaks between 2,000 and 10,000 words a day?! That means we have thousands of opportunities daily to encourage others or tear them down, to honor God or dishonor Him, and Jesus says in Matthew 12:34 that each word spoken reveals a little more about who we are on the inside. So in this series, Stephen takes us back into the convicting book of James to give us a long, hard look at our hearts…through the window of our mouths.

About Wisdom for the Heart Weekend

Dr. Stephen Davey serves as the senior pastor of Colonial Baptist Church in Cary, North Carolina, as well as the president of Shepherds Theological Seminary. Stephen's Bible- teaching ministry "Wisdom for the Heart" [also translated into Spanish, Portuguese, and Arabic] is broadcast on five continents and throughout the United States. Stephen and his wife Marsha have been blessed with four children: twin sons Benjamin and Seth; daughters Candace and Charity.

About Dr. Stephen Davey

Stephen Davey is Senior Pastor of Colonial Baptist Church and President of Shepherds Theological Seminary, as well as principal Bible teacher on the "Wisdom for the Heart" broadcast. He attended Liberty University and Tennessee Temple University, graduating in 1981. He holds a Master of Divinity degree from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary and a Master of Sacred Theology degree from Dallas Theological Seminary. An STS sister seminary in Chennai, India honored him with a Doctor of Divinity degree.

Following graduation from Dallas, the Daveys moved their young family to Cary, NC in 1986 to found Colonial. From the beginning, Stephen preached in an expository style, and as word spread of the church's solid scriptural foundation, the new fellowship began to grow.

Today, three Sunday morning worship services accommodate the 2,800 households who call Colonial "home." Both morning and evening church services are streamed through the Colonial website: live services on Sunday and archived sermons.

Stephen also serves as the president of fully accredited Shepherds Theological Seminary, directing Wisdom for the Heart and fulfilling his primary ministry duties as pastor/teacher of Colonial Baptist Church. The beautiful campus with its colonial-style buildings is home to both the church and the seminary.

Dr. Davey is an author whose well-crafted sermon series have been published in book form by Charity House, Ambassador/Emerald House, Kress Biblical Resources, and Wisdom for the Heart. He has written three commentaries and numerous smaller books.

Stephen and his wife, Marsha, have been married 29 years and have been blessed with four children: twin sons Benjamin [wife Caroline] and Seth; daughters Candace and Charity.
