Blessed be the LORD, my rock…
Psalm 144:1
God’s covenant names are revealed as people engage with Him in the turbulent world. We know Him best in the intense interactions arising from lives under constant duress. Pounding waves of threat, fear and danger run at us, but He is like the great stone outcroppings along the California and Oregon coasts. We best understand and appreciate Him as “rock” when oceans of trial mount toward us. The tides shatter when they collide with the rock. If we are in Him, the tsunamis that would sweep us away are reduced to splinters of white foam.
