"If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask Him?" - Luke 11:13
We get as much of God as we desire to get. It’s not enough merely to say, “I wish I really knew Jesus Christ,” or, “I want victory over shame and sin.” We can wish and we can want, but it’s not until we will that we receive the Father’s best for us. We yearn as if He were reluctant to give us His “good gifts.” He has willed to give us His best, and when our will meets His will, His best is what we get. Wishing and wanting are passive, but willing is active because it asks, seeks and knocks.
