In recent years, we have heard rumors of revival in certain places. We have heard of audiences breaking out in laughter and of outpourings of the Holy Spirit. This may be so. Yet, where is the mourning? Where is mourning over sin? Where is the mourning that marked earlier great revivals? Where is the sweeping power of the Holy Spirit changing entire nations? Until we hear the cries of mourning, until we hear the great weeping over sin that occurred in the Evangelical Awakening of the 18th century, a true revival remains only a dream.
