You Shall Not Make for Yourself a Carved Image
This commandment teaches us that we should not make images of God and worship them. Few of us make statutes of God and worship them. Yet we do make images of God in our minds that fall short of who God really is as He is revealed in the Bible. The author John Davies writes, “Have we constructed a convenient image of God which robs him of his truly awesome and gracious character?” Let us all beware of making false images of God.
