Jesus tells his disciples not to pray like the pagans or unbelievers. Then he says, "but you pray like this." The "you" is emphatic in the Greek. He then goes on to give them a very simple prayer to pray. Though it is simple, it is filled with meaning and application. It can be prayed alone or used as an outline for prayer. We should know the Lord's Prayer and what it means and teaches. Then we should use it when we pray not just as something we memorize and recite but something that we use sincerely from our hearts as we approach God in prayer. The Lord's Prayer is a prayer to guide us in how to pray. In this message, we will look particularly at the preface and first petition.
