Do We Need It Today?
Leon Morris wrote, “The Spirit convicts the world in two senses. In the first place, He shows the world to be guilty….He secures a verdict of ‘Guilty’ against the world. But in the second place, we should take the words to mean also that the Spirit brings the world’s guilt home to itself. The Spirit convicts the individual sinner’s conscience.” In the great revivals of the past, conviction of sin was at the forefront. This is not surprising since the Spirit is supposed to bring conviction of sin. Do we not need to such revivals today?
