Should we expect greater outpourings of the Spirit in this age and a greater advance of the gospel than we see today? The answer, I believe, is "Yes!" There are greater outpourings of the Spirit yet to come and we should pray toward the end that the whole world would be brought to Christ and nothing less. The early disciples were persecuted for preaching the gospel and were told not to do so in the future. Yet, they did not give up. The odds were against them. They had been forbidden by the Jewish leaders not to speak any more about Jesus. They were risking imprisonment if they continued, but they prayed for boldness to proclaim the gospel even more. God answered their prayer and sent revival and the gospel advanced. These early disciples had a vision for the future and refused to give up. They called on God and He answered and gave them a power from on High. The gospel advanced beyond Jerusalem. At the end of the book of Acts, the gospel had already reached Rome, the capital of the world empire of that day. They could have given up and said it was no use but they didn't. We can learn from their example today.
