God looks upon the heart. He knows our deepest thoughts and intentions. The scribes and Pharisees gave to help the needy but their giving wasn't from the heart. It was only a show to gain the praise of men. Jesus exposed such hypocrisy. God wants our hearts not our pocket books. When we give, He wants our hearts to be in it.
