Jesus has been teaching us in the Sermon on the Mount how to live in the presence of God. We are always in God's presence. How we live is important. We are to live all of life for His glory. Life is not always easy. We need God's help every day to live this life. So, Jesus encourages us to live a life of prayer, calling on God for His grace daily. As we go through life, we need to recognize that the Lord will be with us every moment. We should always have this realization of living in His presence. All we do and say and think matter to Him and we are always living with Him by our side. That's why Jesus encourages us to pray and to pray often. So many Christians fail to realize their need for daily prayer and communion with the Lord. We cannot live this life alone. We need the Lord daily. We need to be constantly coming before Him in prayer. We are called to be diligent in prayer. Jesus encourages us to continually come before the throne of grace and to let it be something we do daily as a part of our life. There can be no greater encouragement to spend time in prayer than these verses that we consider in this message.
