Are we living in the "Terminal Generation"? There are many who say we are. If they are correct, then the future for this age is not very important as far as the Christian is concerned. There is no point in laying foundations for future generations if they are not going to be. Our vision for the world must necessarily be limited. After all, we are living in the last generation. This age is rapidly coming to a close. So say many today. Yet, is this really true? Are we really living in the "Terminal Generation"? Is there not more yet to come for this age? Does the gospel yet have a significant influence to bear on this world? Should we not be looking ahead to the future and preparing a foundation for future generations? Just because we plant a church in every people group in the world, is that enough? Should not our vision be to reach whole nations and whole people groups with the gospel and see them converted and become Christian nations and Christian people groups? Peter preaching at Pentecost had not only his immediate audience in mind but generations yet to come not only among the Jews but among peoples all over the world. The gospel is a multi-generationsl promise. Not only were the Jews of that day given a promise but their children and not only their children but all who were far off in distance as well as time and their children. This promise had a far reaching vision that carried forward even to the end of the age. This promise would effect peoples from every nation and people group all over the world. Today, we need to recapture this vision of Peter's at Pentecost.
