The Lord's prayer is quite an earthly prayer and can be applied to the here and now. Jesus says to pray, "Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." He tells us not so much to pray for something to happen in the far distant future but for something to happen now in our lives and in the lives of the people in today's world. We should have a longing for the advancement of the Kingdom of God now in the world we are living in.
