When the people of God don't hear the Word of God they lose the wonder of God. And then everyone does what is right in their own eyes. This describes the epic failure of the priest Eli, his family, and his people. It is also a wake-up call for the church of today. We cannot expect to see the glory of God where shepherds are selfish, sheep are starving, and services are so shallow that sin is not dealt with. This message reveals that God simply cannot attend many so-called churches. And this is an epic failure.
