"If you could go anywhere in the world, where would you go? Kimberly Majeski?" "Jerusalem…the Church of the Holy Sepulcher." How about you, Andrew Lyon?" "The Dead Sea." "The Dead Sea. Hey, this is Jim Lyon and all of us at ViewPoint are on our way to Israel and Jordan. We hope you'll travel with us, and in this week's broadcast you're going to learn about the name "Israel" and what it means."
Jim Lyon grew up in Seattle, Washington where he served as Associate and then Senior Pastor of the Fairview Church of God (1977-1991). Since 1991, he has served as Senior Pastor of the North Anderson Church of God, now relocated and called Madison Park Church of God (northeast of Indianapolis).
Jim graduated from Seattle Pacific University in 1974 (with a bachelor's degree in Political Science) then entered the University of Washington Law School. Always fascinated by politics and the public interest, he has worked in many civic and church-related fields, even completing a brief term as a member of the Washington State House of Representatives (1982).
But it is Christian ministry that owns his heart. It is the conviction that Jesus is at work in this world, redeeming, transforming, and perfecting us that has molded his life and vocation more than any other. Helping people see Jesus has become his life's work. Articulate pastor, teacher and motivational speaker, Jim is driven by a mission of carry the hope of Jesus to all people everywhere.
Jim and his wife, Maureen, have four sons, Jacob, Peter, Andrew and Nathanael. In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his family, jogging, and traveling. His interests cover a wide range of music (Prokofiev to Aretha Franklin) and reading (Bible, biographies, history, and current events). Chocolate ice cream is, sadly, his Achilles' heel.
