A lot you are attending reenactments of the Christmas story in Bethlehem. The familiar story in Luke's Gospel begins like this, "And it came to pass in those days that a decree went out from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed." (2:1). The journey from Nazareth to Bethlehem, the No Vacancy in the Inn, the manger birth, and the shepherds coming to see the babe wrapped in swaddling cloths follow. But the real Christmas Story begins before the "Once Upon A Time" story and even before "It came to pass in those days."
