Suppose a wealthy benefactor suddenly appeared and gave you this offer, "Choose anything you want? I'll pay the bill. Wealth, power, fame, pleasure—I'll make it happen for you. Solomon, the author of Proverbs, was given this choice as a young man, not in some fairy tale by a genii, but in real life by the living God. He could have asked for a bigger check than Tony Romo, more power than a U.S. President, or even for a hot pick up truck! Instead, he asked God to give him something else.
