Let Them Fly

It’s an old story, but a good one, and a true one. A man has two wives. (It didn’t work out any better in the ancient world than it does in the 21st Century.) His two wives are fighting (of course) and it’s all over having babies. One of his wives has a ton of them, and the other has none. Throw in a priest who is so out of touch that he mistakes fervent prayer for inebriated nonsense and some soaring poetry, and you have all the makings of a block buster. On this Mother’s Day, let’s take a look at Hannah, the childless wife who became the mother of Samuel, the prophet. Here is one mother who knew what it meant to teach her son to fly without hanging on to his mother’s apron strings.

About Dave Wyrtzen

Above everything else Dave Wyrtzen is a pastor-teacher. In 1973 he sat together with about sixteen others in a small town thirty miles southwest of Dallas. These sixteen wanted someone to simply open up the pages of Scripture on a Sunday morning, help them to hear the truth, and then train them on how to live it in the marketplace. Dave is still their pastor-teacher and Midlothian Bible Church has grown into a mature church.The Spirit of God has used this church family to generate several other churches in the southwest section of Dallas.

He received both his Th M and Th D from Dallas Seminary and is an adjunct faculty member for the Seminary. Dave speaks regularly for Bible Conferences and in many foreign countries. Dave's greatest joy is his wife, Mary, their eight children (counting spouses) and eight grandkids. His life goal is to communicate God's truth through the power of the Spirit in practical, and skillful ways. Since 1973 Dave has faithfully pastored in Midlothian and through Truth Encounter we invite you to join us for his unique depth, passion, and practicality. This Bible teaching is rooted in solid study but lives in the office, classroom, and ball field.
