Q: Are the "Book of Life" and the "Lamb's Book of Life" the Same Thing?
Selected from our Questions and Answers program

A: It doesn't seem to me that there are two books; they're one and the same book. We're told that at the Great White Throne judgment, "I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life" (Revelation 20:12). Now I take it that the Book of Life there is not a list of the whole human race but of those that have been saved by faith in Jesus Christ, and that's the same as the Lamb's Book of Life. The other books mentioned in this passage are the books of works, so that God will fairly and justly judge everyone. But, of course, no one is saved by [their works]. You have to have your name written in the Book of Life.
