In Hosea 8, God the Judge gave the verdict for the sins of Israel. Their sins included idolatry, choosing ungodly rulers, making foreign alliances, and breaking covenant with God.

God always gives people a second chance. Just as a doctor must sometimes hurt in order to heal, in the time of Hosea, God had to punish the people until they turned back to Him.
