At the end of his life, Jacob was focusing on God’s blessings for the first time. And he prophesied about each of his sons on his deathbed because he knew their individual characters.

On his deathbed, Jacob had things he wanted to set in order. The law said that the oldest son should receive a double portion, but Jacob chose to honor the younger of Joseph’s sons.

In Genesis 47, Jacob and his family settle in the land of Goshen. We see that God blessed Pharaoh because he blessed Israel. Later, God would curse another Pharaoh because he dealt harshly with Israel.
