Paul wrote his letter to the Philippians while he was imprisoned for his faith. In spite of this, his message is very uplifting. Throughout the epistle, Paul writes about the joy that he has, and that all Christians should have.

Paul teaches in Galatians that--unless you are perfect--the Law doesn't bring a blessing, but a curse! The solution is that Jesus Christ took our curse. He died in our place so that we could live by faith in him.

He wrote it to warn the church against the legalists. These were false teachers who said that believers had to follow the Law of Moses in order to be saved.

In Second Corinthians Paul is writing to a church whose heart has turned against him. Scholars are uncertain about the reason for this attitude, just as they're divided about the meaning of Paul's "thorn in the flesh."

The city of Corinth was a very permissive society, so First Corinthians was written to deal with a variety of problems in the church. There was a lack of unity, and the believers were very immature spiritually.
