Jesus commended the church at Philadelphia for being faithful to Him and keeping his word. He said they had only a little strength, but that made them a fit object for God to work through them.

The church at Sardis needed to stop living on its past glories. Jesus told them to wake up, to strengthen their weak parts, to hold fast to the truth - and above all, to repent.
