The Law Doesn't Help - Part 2

August 12, 2014
You don't need to take supplements if your diet is healthy. The same can be said of your relationship with Christ - you don't need to supplement His grace with the law if your walk with Christ is healthy.

What Pete wants us to learn in his series, Dance Lessons, is that Jesus is adequate. You don't need supplements. You just need Jesus. Teaching from Galatians 3:10-28 and Deuteronomy 27:14-26, this is the 15th message in Pete Briscoe's 23-message study in Galatians.

Most of us, if asked, would say that we believe that Christ's grace and sacrifice are sufficient to forgive us. But many of us still act as though we need to obey the law to be saved. In the 14th message of the Galatians series, Dance Lessons, Pete Briscoe encourages us to let go of the burden of the law and take hold of the freedom Christ offers us. We don't need the "safety" of the law if we have Jesus! Galatians 1:6-9 and 3:1-6

"Dependent" isn't an adjective most people would want to use to describe themselves. Rather, we would like to be independent, in control. Paul writes about being dependent on Christ as a wonderful and necessary thing for Christian living. It is a privilege! In this message, Pete teaches us how dependence on God is a beautiful part of the dance, as we let the Spirit guide us through daily living. This is the 13th message in Pete Briscoe's series on Galatians titled, Dance Lessons, and is centered on Galatians 2:20 and Mark 9:17-26.

We've been told that we have died with Christ and are now indwelt with His Spirit. But what does that actually mean? How do we take hold of Christ's indwelling Spirit and live it out? In this message from Galatians 2:20, Pete describes what it looks like to practically live by the Spirit daily, and how we can bear Christ's fruit in our lives through Him. This is the 12th message in Pete Briscoe's series on Galatians titled, Dance Lessons.

Paul tells us that we are free from the law – we were freed when we died with Christ and were reborn into new life with Him. So why do we keep acting like we're still under the law? Why are we still marching when we could be dancing? In this message, Pete explains what Paul meant when He said that we were crucified with Christ and are no longer alive, and what it looks like to live fully in this knowledge. This is the 11th message in Pete Briscoe's series on Galatians titled, Dance Lessons, and is centered on Galatians 2:19-20 and Romans 7:1-4.

Have you ever wondered what a "normal" Christian life looks like - what the core aspects of a faith walk are, or why your faith walk looks different from someone else's? In this message from Galatians 2:20, Pete seeks to answer these questions by outlining a passage of Scripture that he believes to be the "secret" to understanding the Bible and the Christian life. He shows us what it looks like to dance with the Spirit instead of marching to a set of rules. This is the 10th message in Pete Briscoe's series on Galatians titled, Dance Lessons.

At times, we may feel useless, uncreative, ungifted, and unfit to do God's work. But simply by the fact that God has brought us into a redemptive relationship with Him, we can be encouraged that He has gifted us! The Holy Spirit is our gift; He is our anointing to do the good works that God has prepared in advance for us to do. He Gifts Me, the seventh message of Jill Briscoe's series God’s Love for Us, assures us that God has gifted us and God will see us through the tasks He set before us. We can say, as David says, "He has exalted me by helping me to know Him." II Samuel 23

No sin is bigger than God's forgiveness and mercy. There will be consequences for sin, but the love of God is the kind of unconditional love that shows mercy when the object of its love lies prostrate and repentant. David learned this when he sinned against God with Bathsheba, he learned the weight of guilt. He also learned that God's mercy is an attribute of His unfailing love. In the sixth message of the series God's Love for Us, Jill Briscoe teaches us the importance of letting God love us by letting Him forgive us. Psalm 103:4
