Sticking It Out

"A successful marriage requires falling in love many times, always with the same person." -Mignon McLaughlin
When 1 Corinthians 13 defines love, it ends with a simple statement: Love never fails. What could that possibly mean when the marriages of friends and family - and maybe even our own - are falling apart every day? In this final message from his series, To Love and to Cherish, Pete teaches how God can transform any marriage when spouses remain committed to the Lord and to the promises they’ve made to one another.
I Corinthians 13:7-8 and Mark 10:2-9

Explosive arguments can hurt a marriage, but silence can destroy a relationship, too. When spouses keep unresolved issues to themselves, it's like filling a gunnysack. The more hurts are stuffed into it, the heavier it gets. And then one day it bursts open, and every past frustration pours out all at once.Has that happened to you? Has some inconsequential argument turned into a raging fight because your gunnysack finally burst? Be encouraged! Pete Briscoe turns to Scripture to describe how you can get rid of the gunnysack and strengthen your marriage.I Corinthians 13:4-11 and Ephesians 4:25-26

You know the saying, "Won the battle but lost the war."  It's actually a profound description of what can happen in a marriage if one spouse insists on always winning arguments and getting their own way. The victory may feel good in the short term, but it can do serious damage to your relationship, long term. In this 2nd message in his series, To Love and to Cherish Pete Briscoe teaches from Philippians 2:1-7 on how to achieve real victory in marriage by being willing to lose.

Contemporary society has hijacked the definition of love to make it 100% about feelings, and nothing else. Couples think if romantic feelings are gone, the marriage must be over. That's sad - and wrong. Love, as defined by the Creator, is doing, not feeling. In this message by Pete Briscoe, he turns to 1 Corinthians 13, to talk specifically about the ways we should "love" our spouse – and everyone else.Based on 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:7 and Romans 5:8, this is the 1st message in Pete's 4-part marriage series, To Love and to Cherish.

Reading about the Israelites in the Old Testament can make us feel pretty superior. After all, these people, so cherished by God, often got it wrong. God repeatedly blessed them, and in turn, they repeatedly abandoned God for things that seemed better and more appealing. They forgot His Word and His promises. Uncomfortable yet? Does this sound familiar? Our world looks pretty much the same way today! There's a famine of hearing and knowing God's Word, both in and outside our churches. Something is missing spiritually, and it affects every other facet of our lives. In this riveting message by Stuart, he explains what we need to do, and what will lead to true life transformation. Nehemiah 8:1-18

Robert Burns, the Scottish poet, wrote, "Oh that God the gift would give us, to see ourselves as others see us." This can be helpful - and devastating! But what really matters is that we see ourselves from the divine perspective. This view yields a true self image!Based on Colossians 3:9-11, this is the 2nd teaching in Stuart's 3-message series, Spiritual Renewal.

The orientation of much modern spirituality is inward. That of Christian spirituality is upward and outward. Not that the inward is neglected but it requires a focus on "things above" to motivate and empower us to discipline what we find within ourselves.Based on Colossians 3:5-8, this is the 2nd teaching in Stuart's 3-message series, Spiritual Renewal.

It is generally agreed that the Western world is in need of spiritual revival. Historically, cultures have been revived when the church has been renewed. But the church is renewed one believer at a time. So let us pursue personal renewal beginning with a renewed focus.Based on Colossians 3:1-4, this is the 1st teaching in Stuart's 3-message series, Spiritual Renewal.

You can believe that Jesus is alive by looking at the evidence and trusting it because it's the best explanation for what happened. But you can know Jesus is alive by spending some intimate time with Him. If you believe He's alive and you have your eyes open to see Him, you'll see Him all over the place.Based on Luke 24:1, this is the final message in Pete's 9-message series Derailed by Doubt, which is centered on common questions that can knock someone's faith off track.
