Standing on the Edge of Faith - Part 1

June 9, 2016
Is it possible to attend church, experience Christianity, and yet remain spiritually dead? And if it is, what might the consequences be for resisting the transforming power of Jesus Christ in you? If you're standing on the edge of faith in Christ, what's keeping you from jumping in to life with Him?

In this message, Pete Briscoe unpacks one of the most debated passages of Scripture, Paul's warning to non-believers in the Church. Based on Hebrews 6:4-12, this is the 12th message from the series, Better: A New and Living Way.

How could a perfect God possibly empathize with a sinful person? If you believe your sin is too much for Jesus to forgive, that He is angry at you and separates Himself from you every time you mess up, then you don't know Him. How will Jesus receive you when we have erred, and how should you receive others who sin? In this message, Pete Briscoe details why it's possible for you to stop hiding from Jesus and instead approach Him with confidence and boldness. Based on Hebrews 5:1-10, this is the 10th message from the series, Better: A New and Living Way.

Wouldn't it be great if we could stay at rest even when conflict, stress, and trials push in on us? The Lord made a promise that we could enter His rest and that promise still stands today. Can you abandon your desire to strive in your own strength and find rest in His hands? In this message, Pete Briscoe talks about the promise of rest available to all believers. Based on Hebrews 4:1-11, this is the 8th message from the series, Better: A New and Living Way.

Are you dabbling around the edge of belief in Jesus, you hear His voice but are unwilling to surrender completely to Life in Him? The longer you live in this in-between state, the more difficult it becomes to turn to Jesus and worship Him completely as Lord and Savior. In this message, Pete Briscoe shares a warning for church-going nonbelievers who continue to live with hardened, religious hearts. Based on Hebrews 3:7-19, this is the 7th message from the series, Better: A New and Living Way.

The author of Hebrews addresses a struggle for early Jewish believers. They had difficulty focusing their eyes on Jesus because they couldn't see past their hero, Moses. It's understandable. They knew that Moses had the privilege of meeting with God face-to-face in the temple. In this message, Pete Briscoe points us beyond the temple as the meeting place with God to the indwelling Christ, where we have the privilege of meeting with Him anywhere and anytime. Based on Hebrews 3:1-6, this is the 6th message the series, Better: A New and Living Way.

Years ago, Mortimer Adler wrote a book titled How to Read a Book. It sounded elementary, but it proved to be absolutely necessary. It's highly likely that knowing how to listen to a sermon may be equally elementary and necessary in understanding and applying what is taught to everyday life. Based on James 1:16-27, this is the final message in Stuart Briscoe's series, God of Wonder, God of Worship.

Worship is a response to God's self-revelation. Prayer, which is either a spoken or unuttered response to Him, is therefore a premier aspect of worship. Whether in the congregation or alone, Jesus taught us we should pray and pray continually. Based on Luke 11:1-13, this is the second message in Stuart Briscoe's series, God of Wonder, God of Worship.
