Telling the Truth

Stuart and Jill Briscoe

Sexual Morality, Part 1

July 11, 2016
Society encourages us to satisfy our sexual needs, but Scripture says our spiritual needs are of utmost importance. How does our spirituality apply to our sexuality? God established sex as a divine creation - its origins dating back to the Garden of Eden.

Can we morally hold true to our sexuality and enjoy it as God's divine creation? It can be a challenging line to walk, but Stuart shows how God's truth can guide us in reclaiming our bodies as He created them to be.

The topic of homosexuality has caused devastating divisions in the Church. These divisions are evidence of the evil one in our midst, but how is the evil one dividing us? Pete defines the issue as a difference between truth and grace - some of us lean toward truth, others toward grace. The Spirit in us is fully grace and truth, so how do we fully demonstrate both as we approach the topic of homosexuality? With teaching from Luke 6:37-42, this is the 10th message in Pete Briscoe's series What Will Jesus Do? It's also included in a special compilation series by Stuart, Jill, and Pete titled, Sexual by Design.

It used to be that a marriage ceremony was the only glue necessary to keep a couple together. But today, more than ever, marriage has come under attack, and there are many forces pulling couples apart. In this message from Pete Briscoe, he explores how many couples find that the physical intimacy they once craved, now escapes them. But there is one thing that every married Christian couple has that allows them to have a better sex life than anyone else! We can achieve that when we take time to sort through the truths and lies we have come to believe on the topic of sex. This message is the third teaching in Pete's series Sticking Together When We're Pulled Apart. And it's also included in a compilation series by Stuart, Jill, and Pete titled Sexual by Design. Genesis 1:27-28; 2:20-25

If we want to think seriously about living as Christians in this world, we have to address the issue of sex. What Scripture teaches and what our society accepts as normal aren't even close. In this message, Stuart begins in Genesis and shares what God, the inventor of sex, has to say on the subject. And it's more complex than you might think. The question becomes: Will we as believers embrace God's purposeful and strategic design for sex, or continue to pursue worldly sexual pleasure? This message by Stuart Briscoe is based on I Corinthians 6:12-20 and is from the 5-message series, Take 5: A Christian Point of View. It's also included in a compilation series by Stuart, Jill, and Pete titled Sexual by Design.

When we are bogged down with feelings of inadequacy, or when we are burdened by expectations, it's a great time to pray. But sometimes it can be hard for us to know what to pray or even how to pray. In this message, Jill walks us through the Old Testament prayer process that was followed within the temple and compares it to New Testament times to help us understand the importance of prayer and learn how to deepen our prayer life. This is the fifth message in Jill's series "Choosing" on the life of Solomon.
