Opening the Door to Life in Christ - Part 1

August 24, 2015
What should be the primary focus or "the main thing" for us as believers, and for the church as a whole? Is it finding the lost? Reaching seekers? Discipling believers? Caring for the poor? Creating community? Sending missionaries? Offering Bible studies? These are all good things, but the main thing is not a thing at all. The main thing is a person, and that person is Jesus Christ!

In this message, Pete Briscoe takes us to Revelation 1:9-20, where we see a powerful, symbolic image of Jesus standing among the churches. John's apocalyptic writings enhance our understanding of Jesus' divine sovereignty, authority, character, purpose, and love for us.

In John 10:10, Jesus said, "I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full." He forgives our sins and indwells us so that we can experience real life in Christ.

As we approach Revelation, we should bear three things in mind: It is "Apocalypse," a unique literary genre that requires careful study; it is a "prophecy" which deals with proclamation and prediction; and a "letter," which handles pastoral concerns. Revelation 1:1-20
