No Favoritism Here - Part 2

March 20, 2015
Have you ever felt the negative effects of favoritism? Been passed over for a promotion because you're a woman, a different ethnicity, from a different socioeconomic background? We've probably all felt the effects of favoritism in some form, whether racism, elitism, or sexism (feminism or chauvinism). But the Bible is clear: each and every one of us who is in Christ is God's favorite!

In this message, Pete walks us through Jesus' response to the sexism of the ancient Roman world, and he encourages us to remember that all of us are God's favorite. Teaching from Galatians 3:26-28, this is the 18th message in Pete's 23-message series, Dance Lessons.

Most of us, though we have been given a new primary identity with Christ in our salvation, still live in our original identities. We live as merely human, instead of as a powerful, Spirit-indwelt child of God. Learning to dance with the Spirit is learning to live out the new identity, your primary identity, given in Christ. Based on Galatians 3, Pete Briscoe challenges us to live out this new identity in the 17th message of the series, Dance Lessons.

Is Jesus your drill sergeant or your dance instructor? Are you marching along, trying to be "good enough," trying to keep in step with everyone else? Jesus is calling you out of the march and into a dance with Him - sometimes messy, sometimes uncoordinated, but always focused on Christ, moved by Life with Him. In this message, Pete invites us to stop marching, stop watching the dance from the sidelines, and start dancing with life and joy! Taken from Jeremiah 31:13-14 and Colossians 2:6-10, this is the 1st message in Pete's 23-message series, Dance Lessons.

So what's the purpose of an abundant life on earth? Why doesn't Jesus just take us to heaven now, to enjoy life with Him there? Jesus said, "I have other sheep which are not of this sheep pen, I must bring them also." In this message, Stuart describes his last way for us to get a life, the purpose for our own abundant life – to bring the sheep who are outside our flock inside. Based on John 10:14-18, this is the final message in Stuart's 6-message series, Six Ways to Get a Life.

The word "commitment" is not high on many people's preference list nowadays. Have you noticed? Commitment asks a lot from us - it asks that we rely on people and not just ourselves, it asks that we live in terms of relationships. Commitment involves duty and obligation, and it requires us to trust others. Not many of us want to be committed to other people. But what about commitment to Christ? If you want to "get a life," you have to be committed for time and eternity to God. The good news is, He's has already utterly committed Himself to you. Based on John 12:20-29, this is the fifth message in Stuart Briscoe's series Six Ways to Get a Life.

Do you know what it is to be known intimately? Sometimes the idea of intimacy can be uncomfortable in its vulnerability. But Scripture tells us that intimacy with God is something we should desire, that it's something we should be seeking. In this message, Stuart teaches us what it means to be intimate with God, and how that intimacy is desperately important in living life to the full. Based on John 10:1-18, this is the third message in Stuart's Six Ways to Get a Life series.

Our enemy, Satan wants to rob us of the eternal life that God promised us. In order to live in abundant life, we have to be aware of this threat and gain an understanding of the enemy's strategies. Based on John 10:1-10, this is the second message in Stuart's series Six Ways to Get a Life.

What does "life to the full," as Jesus promised, look like? And how do we get it? In this message, Stuart begins his series Six Ways to Get a Life by describing the first step: getting to know ourselves. If we're going to get a life, we've got to know ourselves well enough to be able to identify the "sheepishness" in our humanity and our need for a relationship with the Good Shepherd. John 10:10

God will use you, no matter how broken you are, if you are obedient. This is the lesson we can learn from the book of Esther. Esther started as a simple Jewish girl. But God asked her to be obedient, and she ended up risking her life to go before the king and make a request that her people be saved. She went with the knowledge that she would most likely be killed. But Esther had faith and was obedient. Based on Esther 6-10, this is the final message in Jill's 6-message series, God in the Shadows.
