Gift Boxes: The Ultimate Exchange

December 25, 2013
There are lots of gift exchanges around Christmas time. We give gifts to our friends, family, coworkers, and even strangers. But there is one gift exchange that is better than all the rest – the ultimate gift exchange that takes place between God and us. And although God only desires one gift from us, He showers us with many amazing gifts that can fill us up. In this message, Pete explores the many gifts that God gives us, while also explaining what we can give to God in return.

This is the 3rd message in Pete's series Inside the Box and is based on Matthew 2:1-11.

In today's society, we feel the need to pack as many things into the day as possible. Restful activities are a thing of the past. Conversation has been replaced by smartphones. Naps are for lazy people. Walks in the park take too long. But did you know that God wants us to rest? In fact, rest is a gift from God. Everyone knows there are laws to follow when driving a car... no speeding, no tailgating, no running red lights. Have you ever disobeyed those rules and gotten caught? If so, maybe you remember feeling angry, embarrassed, or guilty about it. Many of us feel the same way when we sin by not following God's laws. In this message, Pete dives into the book of Galatians to help us understand how Christ freed us from the bondage of sin. This is the 1st message in Pete's series Inside the Box and is based on Galatians 1:6-7, as well as chapters 2-5.

About Stuart and Jill Briscoe

Since 2000, she and Stuart, who was formerly senior pastor of Elmbrook Church for 30 years, have had the joy of equipping and encouraging believers across the globe in their roles as ministers-at-large for Elmbrook.

Jill has authored more than 40 books including devotionals, study guides, poetry and children's books. Her vivid, relational teaching style touches the emotions and stirs the heart. She serves as Executive Editor of Just Between Us, a magazine of encouragement for ministry wives and women in leadership, and served on the board of World Relief and Christianity Today, Inc., for over 20 years.

Jill and Stuart call suburban Milwaukee, Wisconsin their home. When they are not traveling, they spend time with their three children, David, Judy and Peter, and thirteen grandchildren.
