To See The Lord, Part 1

When we are in the presence of God, our sins are exposed in the Light. We quickly realize the Holiness of the Lord, and just how unholy we are. But today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff will teach us that it's healthy to be in God's presence, because it is there we can confess our sins, and the Bible says He is faithful and just to forgive us (1 John 1:9).

You would think it would be chaotic and confusing...yet, from beginning to end, it fits into one consistent and harmonious account. The Bible says "a little leaven leavens the whole lump." And when we allow small compromises in our lives big problems will soon arise. Back in 1st Kings chapter 20, Ahab disobeyed the word of the Lord and allowed Ben-Hadad the king of Syria to live. Now only 2 chapters later, Ahab meets his end by the hands of an unknown Syrian captain. Today Pastor Jeff will teach us practical application from this compromising account.

When we think of the prophets in the Bible, we think of the big names like: Isaiah or Jeremiah. But have you ever heard of a prophet named Micaiah? He's found in the last chapter of 1st Kings. When many chose to please the king of Israel by prophesying falsely, Micaiah chose not to compromise and delivered a prophecy that would soon come to pass.

One major problem in the church today is compromise. As we begin to close out the book of 1st Kings, we see drama unfolding and compromise is at the root of it all. Today Pastor Jeff urges us to learn from these mistakes because eventually compromise will bring death.

Christian or not: If we sow to the flesh, we will reap corruption. In our current study of 1st Kings we've seen Jezebel and Ahab operating in the flesh, and according to the law of sowing and reaping this could only pave the way for corruption.
