Thy Kingdom Come! Part 2

February 1, 2013

In John 14 verse 3 Jesus said, “I go to prepare a place for
you”. Today on Sound Doctrine Isaiah gives us an illustration of this real literal “place”. We also see that God declares it as “new”, and something that only He can create. But this place is only available for those who have a loving relationship with God, through Jesus Christ.

If you are a Christian, the Bible describes you as a “pilgrim” separate from this world, and passing through it on your way to a new kingdom. ”. We also learn that we have a savior that seeks after us, but are we seeking Him?

Confession is often called “the soap” for the Christian, and the Bible tells us that if we confess our sins, God is faithful and just to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. Today in Isaiah 64, the scripture tells us that we are all unclean, and our righteousness is like filthy rags. Our only hope is to confess our sins and stand in the Righteousness of Christ.

When the disciples asked Jesus how to pray, He included the words “Thy Kingdom come, thy will be done”. Today on Sound Doctrine, we are reminded that prayer can powerfully change situations. As we see the days growing darker, we find encouragement in Isaiah’s revelation, that the bridegroom will come for the bride — an event we call “The Rapture of the Church”. Even so, come, Lord Jesus!

In John 4:22, Jesus said, “Salvation is of the Jews.” Sadly Israel has chosen to reject Jesus as their Messiah. But on today's study in Isaiah, Pastor Jeff explains that one day, Israel will be saved. The same is true for you today, whether Jew or Gentile. If you will call upon the name of Jesus, He will be Savior to you.

According to 1 John 1:7, if we walk in God's Light, the blood of Jesus Christ cleanses us from all sin. As we transition into Isaiah 63, we learn that the wrath of God is used as a cleansing agent to the world. The world must be cleansed from its darkness and sin, so that it will be prepared for the Coming King.

As Christians, we have what is called a “Blessed Hope” — a Hope that purifies us as we anticipate the soon return of Jesus Christ. Today on Sound Doctrine, we gain insight of this blessed hope from Isaiah, and we see that God gave this man a picture of what would take place in the future.

The word “holy” means “set apart.” As believers, we are holy to the Lord, and He has set us apart from the world. He has imputed His righteousness to us so that we have eternal life in Him. This should fill us with excitement, and a desire to share the good news with others. Thanks for tuning in.

Our Christian walk is full of spiritual warfare. We struggle daily with resisting the flesh and temptation. In today’s study, Pastor Jeff reminds us that if we “resist the devil and he will flee.” Only by continually saying “No” to the world and “Yes” to Christ can we strengthen our spiritual maturity and walk close to the Lord. Yes, you will experience persecution. But take heart knowing that God provides the grace we need to endure every situation.

In today’s study we see the consequences of sin. Pastor Jeff uses the example of Sampson, who through sin lost his blessing from the Lord and was taken captive by the enemy. Are you struggling with an affliction that has taken you far from the Lord? Our God is a merciful Father whose amazing grace can forgive any sin.

As far back as Daniel, the Scriptures reveal that Christ would be crucified for the sins of the world; yet many nowadays still wait for the return of the Messiah. They are under the bondage of the Law, but we know that Christ has already come to earth once, and we eagerly await His return. But even now we can experience the blessings and comfort of Christ here on earth.
