The Promise and the Law, Part 1c

June 3, 2015

Welcome to the Wednesday addition of SDR with Pastor Jeff. Pastor Jeff is teaching that God's promise to Abraham came through the person of Jesus Christ. Faith in Jesus is the foundation of Christianity. And our liberty and grace is founded on a belief in Him. Here’s the conclusion of The Promise and the Law.

Thanks for joining us today on the 2nd half of our new series called, The Promise and the Law. Pastor Jeff is taking us through the Apostle Paul's doctrine of the promise, which came through Abraham and not through the Law. Abraham predates the Law, and Christ fulfills that Law. Now sitting in liberty, we can see God's promise complete in the person and work of Jesus Christ. Stay tuned for the 2nd half of The Promise and the Law.

Concerning the Law Martin Luther said, “The Law brings sin, death, and the wrath of God to light. This is the business of the Law, and here the business of the Law ends, and should go no further.” The promise came by the Seed of Abraham, not by the Law. Christ, the seed of Abraham, fulfilled the law ushering in the promise of grace! Join Pastor Jeff as he begins a message called, “The Promise and the Law.”

The religious leaders of Paul and Jesus' day took pride in their heritage. They thought they were saved because of their heritage. The same is still true for us today. Our salvation is not based upon our parents' relationship with God but by our own personal relationship with Christ. Join us as we conclude a 3-part study called, “Are You a Son of Abraham?“

The old adage is true, to strive to attain, means you have to strive to maintain. Righteous living is only found in Jesus who is our righteousness. Abraham didn't do any works, he simply believed and was found righteous. People may think that God's grace is too simple and feel they need to add to it. But this only creates bondage and grief and doesn't make anyone righteous. Join Pastor Jeff Johnson on the 2nd half of his message titled, "Are You a Son of Abraham?"

Welcome to a Wednesday edition of SDR with your teacher Jeff Johnson Pastor of CCD. We are learning that the grace we received is not based on merit or work. Its simply by believing in God like Abraham believed. His trust in God was accounted to him for righteousness. With this faith and trust in God, we are made righteous just like Abraham. Pastor Jeff begins in Galatians 3:6 with a message titled “Are You a Son of Abraham?”

Welcome to the conclusion of Staying in the Spirit, a series from Galatians 3 with Pastor Jeff Johnson. So many false teachers invade the church, and if we don't have a firm foundation in the Word of God we to can be swayed away from the truth. The Apostle Paul is passionate about the grace found in Jesus Christ and is quick to correct false doctrine.

Thanks for joining us today on SDR, we are continuing in our teaching from last week's program of Staying in the Spirit. Pastor Jeff is teaching from Galatians 3. The Galatians have been fooled into thinking that they have to work out their salvation through the Law, abandoning the simplicity of God's Grace. Today, Pastor Jeff teaches us that what was started in the Spirit is completed in the Spirit.

In Philippians 1:6 the Apostle Paul declared, “He who began a good work in you, will be faithful to complete it.”  When God begins to work in the Spirit, He will complete that work through the Spirit. So many are deceived in thinking they still have to work to attain God's favor, but Grace is an un-earned favor from God. Join Pastor Jeff as he teaches a study in Galatians 3 called Staying In The Spirit.

As we continue in our study through Galatians Chapter 2 we find that salvation is all about Grace. Martin Luther once said concerning Grace, “The law works fear and wrath; grace works hope and mercy.” This is exactly what Paul is revealing to the church in the regions of Galatia and also to us. 2 thousand years later, grace has not changed; no outside works need to be done. When Christ cried out “It is finished!, it was. The work of saving man was complete. Join us in the second half of “Its All About Grace,” with Pastor Jeff

There is a great liberty we have in Christ. The Apostle Paul has experienced this first hand. He has come from a man condemned under the Law, to a man born again free into Grace. Man’s tendencies however is to try and add religious practices to Grace and it just doesn’t work. Today Pastor Jeff is in Galatians chapter 2 beginning at verse 17 with a message titled, “It's All About Grace.”
