The Golden Age of Israel, Part 1

November 1, 2013
In our previous study in 1 Kings, God inabited the Temple, as it was dedicated to Him.  As a result, the people of Israel rejoiced, and gave thanks to their God. Today we enter Chapter 9 of 1 Kings, and learn of the prosperity which came upon Israel under the rule of King Solomon.

As we finish our study, "Prince Of Darkness," Pastor Jeff reminds us that Satan and his demons are working harder than ever to take over. He also challenges parents to tell their children the truth about spiritual warfare. We can't hide from the reality of Satan, but we can prevail through the power of Jesus.

As we continue our study called "Prince Of Darkness," Pastor Jeff warns us not to take evil lightly. Satan tries to sneak his way in by pretending to be innocent, but we must be vigilant against evil. Satan seeks to put us in bondage, but God's word is our surest defense!

As we approach Halloween, Pastor Jeff delves into the age-old battle between good and evil. In this study entitled "Prince Of Darkness," we learn the sobering reality that unseen spiritual warfare actively occurs in the world. We need to be aware of the enemy's tricks so that we won't be blinded by the power of darkness.

We've been studying the "Temple Dedication" in 1 Kings Chapter 8. And today, we'll see Solomon on his knees, offering sacrifices and praise to the Lord.  Today, we are free to do the same as Solomon; but,  it's important to understand that God looks at the inward position of our hearts and not at our outward posture.

As we resume our study on the "Temple Dedication", we learn that Gods presence, glory, and power would fill the temple. Sadly, in the years to follow, the temple would be destroyed.  But Pastor Jeff points out today, that Christians are the temple of the living God. And the same power of God could be complete in us.

In our previous studies through 1 Kings, we looked into Solomon's building projects. He first spent time building the temple of God, then moved onto his own house. Today, Pastor Jeff teaches from 1 Kings, Chapter 8 and we'll learn about the "Temple Dedication".

Solomon's vast arrayed home was not built solo.  He had the support of gifted individuals and together they completed Solomon's house. Today, Pastor Jeff relates this to the body of Christ, which is made up of many individuals with many gifts.  And according to the scriptures, these gifts are to be used to edify, equip, and build up the body of Christ.

1 Kings, Chapter 7 records the building process of Solomon's house. Full of elaborate details, Solomon's house was vast and beautiful. But behind the beauty was 13-years of building and hard work. Today, we continue our study entitled "A Spiritual House" and Pastor Jeff reminds us of the work God is doing in each one of us. And though we may be in the midst of a trial and tribulation, we must remember that God sees the end result; it is one of beauty and perfection.

When we look at the beauty of a house, we probably don't think about the building process.  There are tools, hard labor, and sometimes blood, sweat, and tears.  Today, Pastor Jeff will teach from 1st Kings, Chapter 7, and we'll take a detailed look at the house Solomon built.

In 2 Corinthians chapter 6 verse 16, it says "we are the temple of the living God; just as God said, "I will dwell in them and walk among them. I will be their God, and they shall be My people." This passage of scripture makes clear, that the temple of God is not a building, but it consists of a people, and not just any people, but of believers and followers of Jesus Christ.  More on this today as Pastor Jeff concludes the message "The House That Man Built" on Sound Doctrine.
