The Faithful Are Taken, Part 1
February 14, 2014
1 Thessalonians 5:9 says "For God did not appoint us to wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ." It's clear from our current studies, that God will judge this world. He will even judge the churches that strayed away from Him and compromised. But today we will look into the church of Philadelphia; a faithful church. And one which God will rapture before His wrath comes upon the earth.

Jesus (who is the Word, John 1:1) said "The words that I speak to you, they are spirit and they are life" (John 6:63). When we allow the Word of God to penetrate our hearts, revival will take place. Today, we continue to learn about the church of Sardis and Pastor Jeff warns us not to fall into the trap of self-deception.

Did you know we could be self-deceived in thinking we are alive, when we are actually dead? This is the trap the church of Sardis fell into, and it is what we are studying today on Sound Doctrine. The Bible encourages us to "examine ourselves to see weather we are in the faith" (2 Corinthians 13:5). And the best way to do this is to allow the Word of God to revive our hearts on a daily basis.

One of the greatest forms of deception; is when we put our trust in man, rather then God. This deception slipped into the church of Thyatira, causing them to commit spiritual fornication. Today Pastor Jeff says, if we open our hearts to Jesus we will be freed from the religious deception that comes from this world.

The scripture says, salvation is only found in Jesus, and there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved" (Acts 4:12). When we get away from this simple truth, the enemy will creep in, and he loves to make his way into the church. We are currently studying the 7 churches found in Revelation, and we are warned today not to be like the church of Thyatira. They strayed away from Jesus, and put man before God.

James 2:19 says "You believe that there is one God, You do well. Even the demons believe-and tremble!" To believe is more than a verbal announcement it's a call to action. In fact, as you dig deeper into the word "believe" you will discover that it means to completely trust God, and Him alone. Today we will be encouraged to trust God in both word and action.

2 Corinthians 6:17 says "Come out from among them and be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclearn, and I will receive you." God has given a call for all believers to be separate from this world. But is the church truly separate? Today, we conclude the study "S.O.S. To The Body Of Christ" and Pastor Jeff will teach on the compromising church of Pergamos, and will urge us not to slip into compromise.

Romans 12:2 says "Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God." As we continue to study the church of Pergamos found in Revelation chapter 2, we are warned by their example of compromise. They allowed the enemy to come within the church, and were eventually conformed to the world stystem. Today Pastor Jeff warns us of the danger that comes when we love this world more then we love God.

Jesus came into this world to deliver mankind from the sting of death, and His resurrection confirms the victory that is available over death. Today we conclude the study "Be Encouraged", and Pastor Jeff points out that we must first be born-again to have victory over the grave.
