The Book of Ruth, Part 3

May 9, 2014
Although a gentile and stranger, God provided for Ruth and blessed her in a foreign land.  Today she is a beautiful example for all mothers to be devoted to God, and to follow Him in good and hard times.

The Bible explains that God makes everything beautiful in its time.  And here in the book of Ruth we see Gods plan for two women begin to unfold.  Today we'll continue our special Mothers Day series, and Pastor Jeff gives us encouragement to see Gods perfect timing in our own situations.

Today we will embark on a verse-by-verse journey through the book of Ruth.  This book chronicles two women who are known throughout history to be mighty women of God...we are talking about Naomi and Ruth. There are many lessons we can draw out from this book, so lets begin with chapter one on Sound Doctrine.

Though it's unseen, demonic activity in this world is real and powerful.  Ephesians 6:12 says "we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, and against the rulers of darkness." Pastor Jeff will give insight today on the approach these demonic entities will take in the Great Tribulation.
May 6, 2014
We've been studying the Great Tribulation period on Sound Doctrine, and today we find ourselves in chapter nine of the book of Revelation.  Pastor Jeff explains the truth about fallen angels and the tormenting role they will play during this horrific time.  The demonic realm is a reality, but it's in this time that this unseen realm will be manifest on the earth.

Today we conclude our study in Revelation called "An Ecological Nightmare."  Many plagues will hit the earth at this time in history, including a star called "wormwood."  This star will polute a third of the water on the earth, and many will die from its bitterness.  But there is still a spring of water that will always satisfy, and that will never become bitter.  This water is not physical or temporal, but spiritual and eternal, and it is only available through Jesus Christ.  More on this today on Sound Doctrine.

The book of Exodus records the plagues of Egypt.  These plagues were used as a tool to deliver the Israelites from the bondage of Pharaoh.  But as you progress through the Bible to the book of Revelation, you will find these same plagues used.  Sadly, it's not to deliver Israel, but to chasten them.  Pastor Jeff Johnson will explain more with the second part of his message called "An Ecological Nightmare."

It's almost certain that everyone has experienced a nightmare.  And though it may have been startling, it was not reality.  As we continue our study in Revelation we'll learn that an ecological nightmare will be a reality on the earth, yet there is still a safe haven today.  The Bible says in Psalm 46 "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble."  If we put our trust in Christ today, we don't need to fear the future.

In sending a prayer request up to Heaven, we can sometimes experience a long period of silence.  At times, this process of waiting can be tough to endure, but this doesn't mean God didn't hear our prayer.  Today on Sound Doctrine, we'll conlcude our study on the power and privilege of prayer, and learn that Gods timing is always perfect.  Ecclesastes 3:11 says "He has made everything beautiful in its time."

Did you know Jesus intercedes and prays for believers? This is a powerful truth that can be found in Hebrews 7:25.  Knowing this should not only drive us to pray more, but should mold and shape our prayer life. Today, Pastor Jeff will explain that prayer will not only change our lives, but prayer has the power to change history.

In many ways, the book of Acts can be used as a blue print on how to live the Christian life. One fundamental action you will discover in this book is prayer. Prayer wasn't just an option for the early church, but a necessity. The same is true for us today, and as we continue our study of Revelation, we'll discover that God hears the prayers of His people.
