The Beat Goes On, Part 1

On todays program, we begin a study entitled "The Beat Goes On." Pastor Jeff says, unless a person or nation repents from there evil ways, problems will keep producing. But if repentence takes place, blessings are produced instead of problems, and consequently the "beat" stops. Pastor Jeff explains more today on Sound Doctrine.

Throughout the history of Israel, God raised up, and put down Kings. Some did evil in the sight of the Lord, and some did what was right. But few fully trusted God with there whole heart. Today, we continue our study in 1st Kings, and Pastor Jeff encourages us to trust the Lord with all our hearts. Because when we do, He will direct our paths.

In the midst of a choatic world, many may question God's sovereignty. But the Bible explains that God knows the beginning from the end, and He is in complete control of every situation. Today, Pastor Jeff reminds us God is a good and just God. And His ways are not our ways, and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Stay tuned for more on Sound Doctrine.

1 Thessalonians 5:18 says "In everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." Thru any circumstance, a thankful heart is one of the greatest witnesses a Christian can express.  On the flip side, an unthankful heart can be a bad witness for a Christian. Today, Pastor Jeff says to seek first God's Kingdom, and everything else will be provided for us.

Thru debts, bankruptcy, and an economic crisis, it's easy to become discouraged and even depressed.  But as a believer in Christ, we could be encouraged because He has overcome the world.  On this special Thanksgiving program, we'll learn about a women in the scriptures who had a heavy debt on her hands.  But through Gods Provision, she was able to overcome.  Pastor Jeff begins Part 1 of the message "God Provides" next on Sound Doctrine.

During the reign of King Rehoboam "Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord."  We'll learn today, that the idols they worshiped, provoked God to jealousy. Sadly, idols still exist in our present day.  It may be a car, house, or even money, but whatever is taking preeminence in our life is an idol. Today, Pastor Jeff exhorts us to allow Christ to be the Lord of our hearts. More on this today, on "Sound Doctrine".

Isaish 57:1 says, "The righteous is taken away from evil."  As we continue part 2 of our study called "Not Finishing Well," we learn that King Jeroboams evil behavior, results in the death of his child.  At times, it could be hard to understand, that God would allow a child to die. But Pastor Jeff says, "sometimes, God takes the righteous home with Him, because of the evil He see's in the future."  Stay tuned for more on Sound Doctrine.

At one time; Gods mercy came upon king Jeroboam.  But the scripture says, "He did not turn from his evil way." Today, we'll begin to learn the results of Jeroboams behavior, and see that his family is at the center of his consequences. Proverbs 3:12 says "The Lord disciplines those He loves."  Today, we see the chastening of the Lord, with an unnamed man of God. Although this man gave a prophetic message to king Jeroboam, his obedience was tested, and he chose to compromise rather then obey. Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff says, "To Obey is Always Better."

In responding to the religious authority of their day, Peter and the apostles cried out "we must obey God rather than men."  Today, we continue with Part 2 of "To Obey is Better," and Pastor Jeff teaches on this mysterious man of God found in 1 Kings 13.
