Staying in the Spirit, Part 2

May 25, 2015
Thanks for joining us today on SDR, we are continuing in our teaching from last week's program of Staying in the Spirit. Pastor Jeff is teaching from Galatians 3. The Galatians have been fooled into thinking that they have to work out their salvation through the Law, abandoning the simplicity of God's Grace. Today, Pastor Jeff teaches us that what was started in the Spirit is completed in the Spirit.

In Philippians 1:6 the Apostle Paul declared, “He who began a good work in you, will be faithful to complete it.”  When God begins to work in the Spirit, He will complete that work through the Spirit. So many are deceived in thinking they still have to work to attain God's favor, but Grace is an un-earned favor from God. Join Pastor Jeff as he teaches a study in Galatians 3 called Staying In The Spirit.

As we continue in our study through Galatians Chapter 2 we find that salvation is all about Grace. Martin Luther once said concerning Grace, “The law works fear and wrath; grace works hope and mercy.” This is exactly what Paul is revealing to the church in the regions of Galatia and also to us. 2 thousand years later, grace has not changed; no outside works need to be done. When Christ cried out “It is finished!, it was. The work of saving man was complete. Join us in the second half of “Its All About Grace,” with Pastor Jeff

There is a great liberty we have in Christ. The Apostle Paul has experienced this first hand. He has come from a man condemned under the Law, to a man born again free into Grace. Man’s tendencies however is to try and add religious practices to Grace and it just doesn’t work. Today Pastor Jeff is in Galatians chapter 2 beginning at verse 17 with a message titled, “It's All About Grace.”

We have been studying the error Peter makes by separating himself from non-Jewish Christians. Proverbs 27:5  says, “Better is open rebuke than hidden love.” This is exactly what Peter is learning. The Apostle Paul has to correct Peter for his actions. Grace was at stake and the hypocrisy needs to be dealt with swiftly. Today Pastor Jeff teaches the conclusion to the message titled, Paul Rebukes Peter.

We are studying the incredibly important letter to the Galatians where Paul is defending Grace. You would think that after Peter ministered to the Roman Centurion that he would have no problem being seen with other non-Jewish Christians. But, we find out from the Apostle Paul this was not the case. In order to look good in front of the Jews in Jerusalem, Peter separated himself from non-Jewish Christians. This was public hypocrisy, and Paul deals with it publicly. Stay tuned for the second half of the message titled, Paul Rebukes Peter.

As we have been learning about Grace from the Apostle Paul we find that man is a creature of habit. The habit the Jews struggled with, was law and regulation. When Christianity spread to the Gentiles the Jewish Christians started adding works to them and teaching them to obey the Law. This unfortunately even affects the Apostle Peter. Join us as we continue in our study of Galatians 2 with Pastor Jeff in a message titled, Paul Rebukes Peter!

The great American orator Patrick Henry said, “I know not what course others may take; but as for me, give me liberty, or give me death." He understood that life with out freedom is as good as being dead. The Apostle Paul declared in Romans 7:4, “So, my brothers and sisters, you also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another!” We no longer belong to the Law but to Christ the great Liberator of humanity! Pastor Jeff concludes his message Liberty and Grace for All.

We are continuing in our study from Galatians 2. Many men and women around the world are in prison. This prison is not one of walls and bars, but of religion and regulation. The Apostle Paul passionately declared the liberty that Christ gave to the world through His sacrifice on the cross. We don't add anything to grace! To add to it is to say, the atoning work of the cross was insufficient for salvation.

The Apostle Paul was passionate about the freedom that Christ gave to us by dying on the cross. But the Church was under attack, not by a fierce military of a foreign army but by religious groups. Pastor Jeff begins with Galatians 2; we will learn about Paul’s defense of the free gift of Grace.

The Apostle Paul had many accusers who tried to defame his Apostleship. But one thing they couldn’t argue with was his transformed life; from a Religious Zealot who hated Christianity, to an Evangelist who proclaimed Christ. Today on SD Pastor expounds on this in the conclusion of his message, “Our Testimony for a New Year”
