Spiritual Warfare, Part 2c

February 20, 2012
As we finish up our study on Spiritual Warfare, Pastor Jeff reminds us that we don’t have time to worry over the little things. We’re in the middle of intense warfare, and Satan doesn’t have long before the Lord comes and defeats him. He’ll be working overtime to oppress us and we must remember that the Lord can break strongholds and deliver us.

One of the most important character qualities we need in the church today is a discerning spirit. Pastor Jeff tells us that without a discerning spirit we can’t hope to avoid the pitfalls of the enemy. When we stand against the devil, we must stand in the power of God, not ourselves.

Count the cost. All of you, not part, must be dedicated. Pastor Jeff tells us that God can’t use us unless our body and soul is given to Him. Paul reminds us to stay fit to serve the Lord. Beware of angels of light promising goodness and peace! God’s Word provides us with the most powerful weapons for overcoming the enemy.

In today’s study, we see in Ephesians 6:12 that “we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.” Our physical strength is of no use in this battle. We must have spiritual strength of character in order to stand against the enemy. Stay grounded in the Word!

Don’t be ignorant of Satan’s devices. In Ephesians 6, Paul is seeking to open our eyes to the realm of spiritual warfare. If we aren’t filled with the power of God’s might, we won’t be able to stand against the attacks of the wicked. God’s Word provides the tools we need to beat the enemy; but beware of getting caught up in the flesh!

Are you prepared to stand in the evil days? We are living in the end times now! As Isaiah 59:19 says, "When the enemy comes in like a flood, the Spirit of the Lord will lift up a standard against him." Pastor Jeff reminds us that the Lord keeps us by His power. It just takes a little faith on our part, and He will do the rest.

Don’t be ignorant of the wiles of the devil. He knows your weaknesses and he preys on them! Pastor Jeff encourages us to be armed against attacks from the enemy by immersing ourselves in the Word of God. We were dead in our sins, but God has awakened us to life in Him.

Do you struggle with an unpleasant boss or a hostile work environment? Your attitude might suffer as a result. Pastor Jeff reminds us that our attitudes are extremely important in the workplace. Don’t forget that many times your example is the best way to witness to others. Work as unto the Lord, and He will give you a light heart and a good attitude.

On the job, your time belongs to your employer. In today’s study, Pastor Jeff encourages us not to fritter that time away, but to use it to the fullest. However, don’t forget your relationship with the Lord! Reading your Bible on break, witnessing through you actions, and sharing with your co-workers are just a few of the ways you can honor the Lord, even while working in an unchristian environment.

Are you doing a half-hearted job at your workplace? As we continue our study on employee/employer relationships, Pastor Jeff warns us not to grow lazy on the job. Do your work as unto the Lord, and your cheerful attitude and diligence will be a witness to your boss and co-workers.

Colossians 3:22 says, “Servants, obey in all things your masters according to the flesh; not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but in singleness of heart, fearing God.” Pastor Jeff reminds us that our work is to be unto Him alone, not our boss or our co-workers.
