Prince of Darkness, Part 2

As we continue our study called “Prince of Darkness,” Pastor Jeff warns us not to take evil lightly. Satan tries to sneak his way in by pretending to be innocent, but we must be vigilant against evil. Satan seeks to put us in bondage, but God’s word is our surest defense!

It is so important that we prepare ourselves for the tribulation to come! The way we do this is by solidifying our relationship with the Lord. We must spend time with Him, read His word, and listen to His voice. He will guide us, direct us, and protect us from the coming wrath.

We see in scripture that the Lord will bring a time of horrendous tribulation to the earth. No man will be able to escape the pain and suffering during this period. However, Pastor Jeff reminds us that, as believers, we will be taken up to be with the Lord prior to this catastrophic event. We can take comfort in this.

God allowed the Assyrians to conquer the Israelites on more than one occasion. But when He was ready to, He wiped out 185,000 Assyrian soldiers in one night. Have you ever felt like God is testing you? God asks for our trust, and in turn, He will show Himself strong for us.

Righteousness brings peace. The Israelites were not right with God, and their city was conquered. These days we see our country being torn apart from within. This lack of peace shows us that many are not walking in righteousness. Do you have the calm that comes from the assurance of your salvation in Jesus?

In today’s study in Isaiah, we are reminded that the children of Israel tried to rely on their own logic to save themselves. But Pastor Jeff exhorts us to rely solely on the Lord. When we rely on ourselves, we’re flying blind; but the Lord knows exactly where to lead us.

In chapter 27 of Isaiah, the prophet compares God’s people to a vineyard. God waters us, prunes us, and protects us so that we can grow. This is a demonstration of how much God loves us. He cares enough to watch over us, correct us, and restore us so that we can be in fellowship with Him.

Our only hope for true peace comes from the Lord. In the New Testament, Jesus tells us everything we need to know to have rest for our souls. Matthew 6:33 says, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.” God promises His blessings on those who pursue Him.

The most important thing we can do as believers is become students of God’s Word. Everything that we need for life is in the pages of Scripture. The beauty of being God’s children is that He opens our spiritual eyes and gives us insights into His word that no one else can have. Don’t neglect this vital part of your walk with the Lord!

Do you find yourself fitting in with unbelievers around you? Are they comfortable spending time with you? More importantly, are you comfortable spending time with them? If you aren’t noticeably different from unbelievers, it’s time to re-evaluate your spiritual life. Christ challenges us to be different from the world, and the only way we can do this is by strengthening our relationship with Him.
