At one time; Gods mercy came upon king Jeroboam.  But the scripture says, "He did not turn from his evil way." Today, we'll begin to learn the results of Jeroboams behavior, and see that his family is at the center of his consequences. Pastor Jeff begins a message called "Not Finishing Well," next on Sound Doctrine.

Proverbs 3:12 says "The Lord disciplines those He loves."  Today, we see the chastening of the Lord, with an unnamed man of God. Although this man gave a prophetic message to king Jeroboam, his obedience was tested, and he chose to compromise rather then obey. Today on Sound Doctrine Pastor Jeff says, "To Obey is Always Better."

In responding to the religious authority of their day, Peter and the apostles cried out "we must obey God rather than men."  Today, we continue with Part 2 of "To Obey is Better," and Pastor Jeff teaches on this mysterious man of God found in 1 Kings 13. But in a turn of events, a false prophet tests his obedience. Pastor Jeff explains more, today on Sound Doctrine.

As we arrive in Chapter 13 of 1 Kings, we enter into chaos.  Israel is divided; with Judah and Benjamin in the South, and the 10 tribes to the North.  But in the midst of the mess, a man of God is raised up with a message for the King of Judah.  We'll learn more about this man, in today's study called "To Obey is Better," on Sound Doctrine.

As we conclude our study "No Ears To Hear," we see Israel preparing for civil war.  King Rehoboam, and Jeroboam are at odds with one another, and each has an army ready to fight.  But today, we'll see a man of God with a message enter the scene.  Will the children of Israel have ears to hear?  Or will they reject the message?  Find out next, on Sound Doctrine.

Full of pride; Solomon's son Rehoboam is now running the kingdom.  The people of Israel are suffering, and complaining against the king, but he continues to show them no mercy.  Today, Pastor Jeff teaches us "the key to authority is humility."  As Christians, we must be on guard against a prideful heart, because the Bible says "Pride goes before destruction and a haughty spirit before a fall."

Like Samson, Solomon started great, but didn't finish well.  Because of his disobedience, his wealth and accomplishments ended in vanity.  Today, we begin a study entitled "No Ears To Hear," and Solomon's son Rehoboam will begin ruling in his fathers place.  But will he start as a wise or foolish king?  We'll find out today, as we study 1 Kings chapter 12.

In verse 6 of 1 Kings 11 it says "Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord."  Sadly, we've been seeing this wise man turn into a fool, because he did not fully commit his heart to God.  Now, civil war is on the brink of 1 Kings 11, and Solomon's kingdom is being terrorized from every side, including from within.  Listen as Pastor Jeff concludes the message "A Foolish Wise Man" on Sound Doctrine.

It's been said, "if we're not moving forward with the Lord, we're backsliding."  In these last days, God wants us to be on fire and passionate for Him, and not lukewarm.  In todays study entitled "A Foolish Wise Man," Solomon is compromising in his relationship with God, and is even setting up false gods to worship.  Pastor Jeff reminds us that "whatever a man sows, that will he also reap." And unfortunately, Solomon will soon reap destruction.

Solomon wrote in Proverbs 19:3 "The foolishness of man perverts his way."  Sadly, this is exactly what's taking place in our current study of 1st Kings.  Solomon's heart is being turned away from God, and incluenced by foreign women.  Today, Pastor Jeff reminds us that "if we sow to the flesh, we will reap corruption, but if we sow to the Spirit, we'll reap eternal life."

Solomon and the nation of Israel, were supposed to be a light to the Gentiles.  Sadly, there prosperity is taking them away from God.  Today we conclude our study in 1st Kings chapter 10 entitled "If I Were A Rich Man."
