Hope, Joy and Peace, Part 2

August 31, 2016
The early church was constantly reminded by Paul, and the other Apostles, to keep their eyes looking up for the return of Jesus Christ. This caused a great work to go out, and joy and peace to enter in. Do you lack peace in your heart? Is joy gone in your walk? Well today on Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff will encourage you to look up, because your redemption draws near. This is the second half of the study titled, “Hope, Joy and Peace.”

The bible tells us that being in the presence of the Lord brings fullness of joy. You might ask, “How can I get into the presence of the Lord?” Well, on today’s edition of SD, Pastor Jeff will teach us, it’s by receiving Gods only Son that brings us into that presence. We are in the book of Romans chapter 15, beginning at verse 8, and encourage you to follow along with us for the study titled, “Hope, Joy and Peace.”

Man has been searching out God ever since we lost fellowship with Him in the Garden of Eden. Unfortunately, instead of seeking to find God, man looked to religion, and other ungodly practices. Gaining favor with the Lord is not in religious works but in receiving His Son Jesus. The churches aim should be transforming into His sons image, and loving one another. It’s only in this that we will be able to truly have fellowship with each other and God. This is the conclusion to the message, “To Be Like Him.”

Divisions and contentions within the body are never warranted. Jesus wants His bride to be a united front, under the banner of His love. The Apostle Paul in Romans chapter 15 is exhorting the church at Rome, to love each other, and strive for Christ’s example. This same exhortation is greatly needed today in our churches. This is the second half of the study titled, “To Be Like Him”

. As believers our target is Christ. This means to be like Him in all areas of our lives. One of the most important principles Jesus taught about His kingdom, was to love others. The world we live in is consumed with hate and animosity towards one another. Unfortunately this can creep into our own lives, and walk with the Lord. Today, Pastor Jeff Johnson is in Romans chapter 15, and we will learn that if want to be like Christ, we must have love for others. This is the study titled, “To Be Like Him”.

As a Christian there will be times when people come to you, seeking an answer regarding a topic. How will you respond? Well on todays edition of Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff wants to encourage you to give others Gods word, and not your own. That is great council, and it will glorify the Lord. We want to be a h

. On this edition of Sound Doctrine, Pastor Jeff wants us to lighten up on the convictions we have, individually. We learned last time that trying force your own personal convictions on people, causes us to become a stumbling block to them. The Apostle Paul, is teaching the very same thing in Romans Chapter 14. This is the study titled, “Be A Stepping Stone.”

The Apostle Paul loved people. This is one of the signatures of a Pastor and Evangelist. He was so passionate about people, he was willing to remove liberties from his life, in order to draw people to Christ. Pastor Jeff is in Romans chapter 14, and he will exhort you to love on others, and not try and force your convictions on people. They need Jesus, not our convictions or opinions. This is the second half and conclusion of the message, “Me A Stumbling Block.”

We are in the book of Romans chapter 14. Pastor Jeff likes to call this section of Romans, family matters. The apostle Paul has been dealing with the Christians at Rome and their conduct towards one another. In any family there are conflicts that arise about petty issues such as, eating meat or drinking. Well on today’s edition of SD, Pastor Jeff will teach us that forcing our convictions on others is not biblical. This is the new series titled, “Me A Stumbling Block.”

Pastor Jeff is in Romans chapter 14. We can have a tendency to forget all that we have been forgiven of. In fact its been said, we really wont have a full understanding of it, until we are in eternity. However, Gods Word tells us that we have been forgiven of alot, and we should do the same in return. Pastor Jeff gives us the conclusion to the 2 part series titled, “Games Christians Play Part 2.”

In antiquity people would go to the theater, and watch people put masks on, and pretend to be someone else. Back then they were called hypocrites, today we call them actors. Now that has its place in society, but not in the church! Pastor Jeff is exhorting us to be real with people, and not think of ourselves higher than we ought to. This is the second half of the series, “Games Christians Play Part 2.”
